As we approach the start of the new academic year, we wanted to celebrate one of the largest fields of study in biology – that of Cell Biology. At PeerJ we have many prominent cell biologists on our Board, including:

* Adrian Bird (Past-Director of the Wellcome Trust Centre for Cell Biology)

* Mina Bissell (Past-President of the American Society for Cell Biology).

* John Gurdon (winner of the 2012 Nobel Prize for his discovery that mature cells can be reprogrammed to become pluripotent)

* Michael Rossman (winner of the 2001 Paul Ehrlich and Ludwig Darmstaedter Prize for pioneering contributions to determination of the three-dimensional structure of the complex shell of spherical viruses)

These individuals, alongside many others on both our Advisory Board and our board of Cell Biologists, support the mission of PeerJ as we continue to provide a cost effective open access publication route for academia, including all cell biologists.

If you are new to PeerJ then check out these endorsements and reviews from current authors.

To show our support for the field of cell biology, for the rest of August (i.e. from 8/12 onwards) we are allowing anyone who submits a paper in the field of Cell Biology to publish their article entirely for free (i.e. none of the co-authors on the paper need to be paying members).

This is a great offer, but only valid through end-August. So please encourage any colleagues you have in these fields to submit their articles today! If August is too short notice for you though then please do email us and we will see what can be worked out.
